Terms of Service

Last updated: May 20, 2026

Welcome to JobScout. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the JobScout website, application, and services (collectively, the “Service”) operated by JobScout (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. What JobScout Does

JobScout aggregates job postings from public job boards, scores them against your resume and stated goals using AI, and helps you tailor application materials. Paid tiers add additional features including a browser extension for Upwork, a Gmail inbox watcher that processes job-alert emails, compensation benchmarks, and a negotiation playbook.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You may not share your account or use the Service for anyone other than yourself.

3. Your Content

You retain ownership of all content you upload — resumes, career stories, assessment results, screening answers, and so on (“Your Content”). By uploading Your Content you grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to process it solely to operate the Service for you. We do not sell Your Content to third parties. We do not use Your Content to train general AI models.

4. AI-Generated Content

Resumes, cover letters, proposals, comp benchmarks, and other outputs generated by the Service are produced by large language models including Anthropic’s Claude. While we instruct the model to avoid fabrication, you are responsible for verifying every factual claim before submitting any AI-generated content to a third party. Numerical outputs (salaries, scores, percentages) are estimates, not guarantees.

5. Third-Party Integrations

You may connect the Service to third-party accounts including Gmail, LinkedIn, and Upwork. Connecting your Gmail authorizes us to read messages matching specific queries (e.g., job alerts from upwork.com) and apply labels to processed messages. We never send, modify, or delete email on your behalf. You can revoke access at any time from your Google account settings.

6. Subscriptions and Billing

Paid tiers (Pro $19/month, Boost $29/month) are billed monthly in USD via Stripe. Subscriptions auto-renew until canceled. You can cancel any time from Settings → Billing → Manage. On cancellation you retain access until the end of the current billing period. We do not provide prorated refunds for partial months.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to violate any law, third-party terms of service (including Upwork’s ToS §6 against automated bidding), or another person’s rights.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract our proprietary prompts or model outputs in bulk.
  • Resell access or share credentials.
  • Submit deliberately false or fabricated content with intent to deceive third parties.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. The browser extension and Gmail watcher are designed to assist you, the human user, with your own job search — they do not auto-submit proposals or auto-apply to jobs, and you remain responsible for every submission.

8. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Within 30 days of deletion we remove your stored content (resumes, profile, applications, leads, assessments, stories). Anonymous aggregate usage data and required billing records may be retained longer for accounting and legal compliance.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is.” We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will land you a job, that job postings are accurate or current, or that compensation benchmarks are precise. Use professional judgment with everything the Service generates.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified by email or in-app banner at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Washington County, Utah.
